Song of Soulmates
Series topic: Marriage, Dating, Sex, Relational Health
Length: 3 weeks
Main Scripture: Song of Solomon
Main Idea: Soulmates are created, not found
This sermon series takes a walk through Song of Solomon to view the relationship between the ‘two lovers’ and consider how their relationship can model our own relationships and mirror the way Christ loves the Church. The outline for each week of the series, “Anticipation for Marriage,” “Fulfillment in Marriage,” and “Commitment to Marriage,” shares a main idea, key points to teach through the scripture, and a ‘next step’ that includes a take-home activity. This series is great when used in the weeks leading up to a marriage event or at a marriage event. Pastors can change or tweak this material where appropriate to best fit their church. You can also view the “Resources Page” to see all the resources used to create the series and use it for inspiration to make your own outline. It is encouraged to use Communio’s sample graphics and sample listening guides to help keep listeners focused and engaged. Creating teaching slides with the sample backgrounds and using the scriptures, main idea, teaching points, and next steps from the listening guide is also recommended. Also included is small group material that will go in tandem with the series. This provides supplemental reading, discussion questions, and a skills-based activity that will help guide couples on their Ongoing Engagement journey.
