A Week of Prayer: The Armor of God
Program Category: Individual Resource
Exercise Length: Ongoing
Concepts Practiced: Vocal Prayer & Petition, Intercessory Prayer, Prayers of Thanksgiving, Repentance
Materials Needed: None
In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he uses military imagery to describe how we should protect ourselves from the spiritual warfare around us. He goes on to explain how the Helmet of Salvation, Breastplate of Righteousness, Belt of Truth, Feet fitted with Readiness of Peace, Shield of Faith, Sword of the Spirit, and Prayer are as important in our walk with the Lord as a soldier’s armor and weapons. Each day of this prayer exercise focuses on one piece of the armor to discuss why Paul may have used this analogy and gives supporting scripture and prompts to take to prayer.
