There’s no better way to appreciate our country than spending time in the great outdoors together. Spend time reconnecting in the fresh air on a hiking adventure in your area and end your date with a festive red, white, and blue picnic!
Pack Your Picnic
Try making some of these festive foods to set yourselves up for a patriotic day out!
Flag Fruit Kabobs - Get some wooden skewers, some red, white, and blue fruit and have fun coming up with creative patterns and layers! Some ideas are: watermelon, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, bananas, jicama, or marshmallows.
Festive Trail Mix - Create your own custom trail mix, with a patriotic twist! Start by combining a base of mixed nuts and raisins to a bag. Then add in some of the following festive mixins:
- Blue and red M&Ms
- Dried strawberries, cranberries, or cherries
- Mini marshmallows
- Yogurt covered raisins
- Popcorn
- White chocolate covered pretzels.
Patriot Punch - Make a refreshing red, white, and blue layered drink! The key here is sugar content, the highest sugar content will settle on the bottom while the less sugared content will sit above it. Make sure to check the sugar labels before combining for the best layered colors. Choose between the following layers, or get creative with your favorite beverages!
Red - Cranberry juice, Hawaiian Punch, Cherry soda
White - Sprite, 7-Up
Blue - Blue Gatorade, Blue Hawaiian Punch
